In 1988 (the year I was born) you had to do all of the following things in separate rooms (or more likely seperate buildings), each requiring significant purchases:

  • Play the piano
  • Film, edit and publish a movie
  • Write an essay for school
  • Call your parents
  • Look up a fact or synopsis in a large set of encyclopedias
  • Read a magazine
  • Play Scrabble
  • Watch live TV

Today, all you need is a 1.3 pound, book-sized iPad. And you can do it all from a lounge chair at the beach if you wanted.

I think that’s pretty cool.
