In 1988 (the year I was born) you had to do all of the following things in separate rooms (or more likely seperate buildings), each requiring significant purchases:
- Play the piano
- Film, edit and publish a movie
- Write an essay for school
- Call your parents
- Look up a fact or synopsis in a large set of encyclopedias
- Read a magazine
- Play Scrabble
- Watch live TV
Today, all you need is a 1.3 pound, book-sized iPad. And you can do it all from a lounge chair at the beach if you wanted.
I think that’s pretty cool.
