Opening Day 2009. Oh boy. As you may remember from last year’s opening day post, I was quite excited. Unfortunately for me, this year is no different. I fully expect the Cubs to win the NL Central and ultimately win the World Series. Ug. This should be fun. Things I hope for:
- Carlos Zambrano continues being Carlos Zambrano
- Something along the lines of this happens/doesn’t happen with Milton Bradley™
- The Cubs show up in October
- The Reed Johnson/Kosuke Fukudome platoon in center field works out
- The pitching rotation performs as it should
- The lineup hits as it should
- The Cubs show up in October
- Alfonso Soriano hits more consistently. When he’s hot he is deadly, when he’s cold he is the opposite
- Derrek Lee, one of my favorite Cubs, pulls together one last productive season
- Carlos Marmol/Kevin Gregg – please work
- The Cubs show up in October
That’s not asking a lot. Really. Go Cubs.
