The year of 2008 has brought many highly anticipated movie releases, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Iron Man, ……….Sex and the City………., and Hancock, just to name a few. Some of these have interested me, others have not. None of these, however, have given me the same excitement as The Dark Knight, the latest installation in the Batman series.

I am not necessarily a big fan of the superhero/comic book genre, but Batman Begins once again ignited my interest in the franchise. Not only was it an exciting, action-packed superhero movie, but a beautifully shot, engaging film. I’m not a “film snob”, but I do try to make a distinction between movies that are just entertaining, like Transformers, and movies which are both entertaining and good, like Batman Begins. That’s not to say there is anything wrong with Transformers, and other movies of the same nature. I enjoyed watching it and was glad to be occupied for two hours, but would not recommend it for any Oscars. Batman Begins had a great cast, an interesting story, excellent action sequences, and most importantly had substance. I expect nothing but the same from The Dark Knight. I plan to be close to the front of the line in when it comes out on July 18th!
P.S. I am a movie nerd.
